Changelog

What's new in PolyIDE, newest first.

September 2026 · Local-first

Latest
  • Your files stay on your computer. On the web, Open Folder, New Project, Save, and Save As now read and write directly on your own disk (via the browser's File System Access API) — nothing is stored on our servers. No sign-in required to edit and save.
  • Download my code. Pull your whole project down as a ZIP anytime.
  • New Project, done right. Choose where it lives; it creates its own folder on your computer and opens on a clean slate.
  • Sturdier accounts. Moved to Postgres with safe concurrent writes.

Earlier this month
  • Connect your Git host. Sign in with GitHub and open a repository as your workspace — your code lives in your own repo; Save commits & pushes back. No forced cloud storage. GitLab, Bitbucket, and Hugging Face are coming soon.
  • Extensions & Feature Store. Install plugins — Word Count, TODO Explorer, Markdown Preview, Pomodoro Timer — or build your own with the PolyIDE extension API.
  • Draggable, dockable tool windows. Dock any tool left, right, or bottom independently. Right-click to move, hover for names.
  • Full Git. Branches, merge with in-editor conflict resolution, stash, and clone.
  • Two-factor authentication. TOTP for sign-in.
  • Desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux. With a native Open Folder dialog — each opens a real workspace, not the app's own files.
  • Reliability & security. Per-user workspace sandboxing, fixed terminal resize/redraw, AI chat recovery, database NULL editing, and more.
  • New brand mark and a consistent site. FAQ, Privacy, Terms, and Contact.
